Kit

What I carry

Mostly camera gear for walks around Braunschweig, plus what I put back on my laptop after a wipe.

Field · viewfinder

In the bag

Sony APS-C for walks near Braunschweig and longer days out when the forecast looks worth it.

  • APS-C · 26 MP

    Sony α6700

The body I grab most days. APS-C keeps the kit small enough that I actually carry it.

  • 18-50 · f/2.8

Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary

Usually mounted. f/2.8 when the light fades, and it focuses close enough for small subjects.

  • 70-350 · OSS

    Sony E 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 G OSS

For when the subject is far away. Red kites, deer, that kind of thing.

  • pocket

    Google Pixel 10 Pro

In my pocket on every walk. Golden hour times, weather, and the shot when the camera stays packed.

  • 20k mAh · 30W

    Anker Zolo Powerbank

20,000 mAh, 30 W. Keeps the camera and phone going on a long walk without me rationing battery.

Wishlist

On the list

Stuff I want to buy next. A macro lens, a sling that fits, something to clip the camera to my bag.

  • 60 · macro

    7artisans 60mm f/2.8 Mark II Macro

Manual focus, but inexpensive. For insects and detail I cannot get with the Sigma.

  • 10L · grey

    Peak Design Everyday Sling 10L

Light grey. Room for the body and one lens. That is probably enough.

  • clip

    Peak Design Capture Clip v3

Clip the body to a strap or bag so my hands are free between shots.

Desk · terminal

On the machine

What I use for software at Mill. After a wipe, machine_setup puts most of it back.

  • $ host

    MacBook

Same machine at my desk in Braunschweig and in the San Bruno office.

  • $ editor

Where I write code. Config is in dotfiles if you want to peek.

  • $ shell

Aliases and prompt I have tweaked for years. Synced so every machine feels the same.

  • $ agents

Cursor setup, custom subagents, sync scripts. The nerdy layer on top of dotfiles.

  • $ cli

A CLI I wrote after one too many fresh installs. Point it at a config; it handles packages, repos, and symlinks.

  • $ config

What machine_setup reads. Take anything that helps.
